Vinterbro, Norway -- Day 5
First on the today's agenda was a much needed haircut for yours truly. Cam graciously offered to assist, though I got the sneaking suspicion during the process that there was a little experimentation going on. Meg and Cam's occasional giggling kept me guessing, and Dex could not be persuaded to join in even though he and I have had synchronized haircuts for at least 8 years -- no guts!
The fantastic weather continued, so Cam planned a short trip to the little town of Drøbak just on the other side of the peninsula for a swim in the fjord. It was awesome. We took turns jumping off the 3 and 5 meter diving boards. In contrast to the group of local teenage boys doing fancy flips and dives, we worked on perfecting cannonballs and pencil “dives.”

Back at the cabin, we had another wonderful meal on the deck (homemade mint and walnut pesto and fresh berries for dessert). Jan and Cam explained that Norwegians tend to have a better work life balance than in many other countries. Apparently, it's not uncommon to leave work at 3:30 or 4:00, especially in the summer. We actually read the other day that it's now required that all new fathers take 14 weeks paternity leave...not too shabby.
Not too shabby post, either. Haircut looks good, and guts galore on the high diving. Three months?! Can that be? How truly amazing it has all been, even from afar.
