Back to Vietnam

To Danang, Vietnam

After indulging, yet again, in the excellent Courtyard buffet, we said our goodbyes to Mike. It was fantastic to see him and we truly enjoyed our mini vacation.

This being a travel day, the biggest excitement was just trying to make our connection in Ho Chi Minh City to Danang.  Though we zipped through the customs line, by the time we were through and had done our best speed-walking to the domestic terminal, we had only forty minutes to spare. Meg took charge and pleaded our way to the front of the check-in line, and then, boarding passes in hand, we raced upstairs to security. Thankfully, my toe nail clippers weren't flagged this time, so we were off to the gate. Arriving just a few minutes before scheduled departure, we were relieved to hear that the flight was delayed by 20 minutes. Yippee. Now as a special bonus, we would have time to eat!

Another short flight and we were back in the surprisingly muggy, night time air of Danang. We chose to walk to our hotel as it was only a half kilometer away. It's kinda neat that you can arrive at an international terminal and simply walk across a parking lot and two lane road to end up on a narrow city street. Fifteen minutes later, we were checked into the Quan Quan Hotel. Any chance of leaving the hotel vanished after finding the animated cartoon Over the Hedge on TV. With the kids pretty much glued in place and Meg content with phone in hand, we settled in for the night.
