Today was a very big day, because Kylie… is… ten! Fortunately, our tail wind yesterday hit on the right day and getting into Lockport at 3:00 meant we could surreptitiously hit Walmart to get everything on our list. Kylie seemed genuinely pleased with her gifts -- earrings, headphones, a new riding shirt and best of all, yarn, a hook, and a beginners guide to chrochet.
To celebrate the special day, we planned a short day of riding to give us time to visit the Falls. Only Meg had seen them when she was young, so this was new for the rest of us. I must say, it is mighty impressive when you first see the mist and hear the roar.
Our hotel was on the much nicer Canadian side, so we headed across the border, had some snacks, before walking back to the US side. The Maid of the Mist tours have been running since the 1800's. There was so much water as we approached the horseshoe falls that I didn't dare take out my camera and the phone touch screen was useless.
Kylie has mentioned the word vegetarian, but I'm pretty sure there's no way she ever will be because she likes steak! Meg reserved a spot for us on the 9th floor of the Embassy Suites at The Keg. Dex and Kylie both got the filet mignon and ate every bite. We returned to our hotel room and were able to watch "A Dog's Purpose" which was a sweet film about dogs. I think it was a perfect 10 day for our 10 year old Kylie.
Happy birthday Kylie ! What a great day whowwww. Hope you enjoyed it. Big hugs from all the swiss family :)
