To Rosenfelder Strand, Germany -- 42.1 miles, 11.1 mph, 950 ft
There was a major adjustment today, since Komoot completely and utterly refused to map a route. I eventually came to the the conclusion that the servers were down and resolved to spend the day with Miss Google instead. She did an admirable job, although she was a bit more needy from a battery use standpoint.
The roads were noticeably busier on today's route. We’d been told the northern Germany schools didn't get out until the end of July, and judging from the kids walking around with bags of books in their arms, today was the day. The ALDI market we found was not as full featured as others we've been to, so we ate outside next to the parking lot.
Ten miles into the ride, we reached a major milestone -- the Baltic Sea. I have no idea how they do it, but the Baltic is absolutely balmy in comparison to the Northern California Pacific. There were crowds of beachgoers enjoying the sunshine and walking along the walking paths with ice cream stands every 500 meters.
As we headed farther north, the crowds thinned while the number of campgrounds increased. At one tourist rest spot we found (and tested) one of the worlds best corkscrew slides.
Close to our final destination, we passed a middle age couple on bikes...who had apparently forgotten where they had put their clothes. We suddenly noticed a dramatic rise in the number of naked people as we passed the sign for the FKK campground. Interestingly, we almost ended up at that very site. Since we hadn't yet received the email confirmation from the Rosenfelder Strand campground, I was writing (just this morning) to the next closest site -- FKK. Now that would have been a family experience.

It seems, we have finally hit the camping big time. This campground is huge with hundreds of campsites in a well maintained grid of grass and gravel roads. It's clear that these campers mean business. Most of the tents could fit a half dozen of ours inside.
Unfortunately, we ended the evening on a down note with Dex and Kylie returning from the playground fighting. Meg had already been hungry for more than an hour and this was the last straw. Plans for eating at the camp restaurant went up in smoke, so we just ate what we had left in our bags outside the tent. Not particularly enjoyable, but it filled us up all the same.
